About William
William Ögmundson is generally acknowledged to be one of the finest pianists in New England. He has performed numerous solo recitals while also making a name for himself as a collaborative pianist, composer and music director.
William has performed throughout New England and Iceland. He played the organ for mass at Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, Notre Dame de Paris, and various other churches in western Europe. He soloed several times as a teenager with the New Hampshire Music Festival Orchestra, and has been highly sought after in recent years as a collaborative pianist and for studio recordings. He is also the organist and choir director at the First Congregational Church in Lebanon, NH.
His next performing venture will be a series of recitals across New England, which will occur in the summer of 2010. Many of these performances will be solo recitals, but others will be in collaboration with other New Hampshire artists, including Steve Schuch. (For specific information see the listing in the sidebar or on our Events page.)
William has also composed quite a variety of music. Recently, he wrote the musical “Pollyanna” (words and script by Trish Lindberg), which was staged in January 2008 at Plymouth State College. This original musical was an immediate success, and is now being offered to publishing companies. (Listen to a sample from Pollyanna )
In addition, William writes original music for the NorthEast Shakespeare Ensemble productions at the Lebanon Opera House in Lebanon, NH every summer. This year he has written original music for the tragedy “Othello”, directed by John Goodlin. Past
productions that benefited from his touch include “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “King Lear”, “Much Ado about Nothing”, and “A Comedy of Errors”. Music from these can be found on his CD “Orpheus“ (Image to the right designed by Jill Fischman)
Still other compositions include a set of three ragtime piano pieces, a song cycle set to the poetry of Steinn Steinarr, “Nissa!” (a children’s musical); and numerous works for solo piano in various styles. This summer KAT Company (katcompany.org) in North Sutton NH will stage “A Star Spangled Salute” which features music by William and lyrics by Trish Lindberg.
When he finds time, William teaches piano lessons at Three Oaks Piano Studio in North Sutton, NH. His students range in age from 6-84, and although he currently has a waiting list, he is more than happy to speak with prospective students.
William will be glad to perform at your wedding. Here are some samples of “non-traditional” wedding music: Dance of the Fairies, Hermia and Lysander. (Yes, he can play the tradional Wedding March as well!) William can help you find the perfect music for your wedding. He can also book other musicians for you if need be.
